Both, the granny and the genius are trying to show the children values like the respect of the nature and the importance of being responsible of their acts, including the caring of the environment: plants, trees, animals...

    • Class preparation:
Divide the class into groups of three or four students, then let them read the original script extract and cut it in many pieces as groups would be, first they have to put it in the right order (the whole class) and afterwards they have to rewrite the original script by changing the characters and some ideas. When they have done this, we choose the most original scripts.
The children write on a paper the moral values they have learnt and then they say them aloud.

    • Scenes - description of what happens in each
    Scene 1
Scene set in a deep dark forest, where the brother and the sister live with their granny. The brother speaks, willing to know the world from the sky and how the beach could be.... saying all these wishes to his little and proud sister.
    Scene 2
Scene set in the house, where they live with their granny, we focus our attention first in every part of the comfortable house, its rooms and specially in the fireplace. And then in the granny, who appears with a magical aspect (she has a young and beautiful face but her hair is white and silver. Her dress is blue, long and wonderful). She speaks with a calm and softy voice to both the boy and the girl who are paying attention to her words.
    Scene3
Scene set outside the house, in the forest, where the children are outside with the granny who is teaching them the different kinds of plants, so the children do not speak, and while they are listening, the granny stops talking, and she begins to talk about a friend of her, a magic genius who is going to visit them. The children´s face change, now they are high emotional and the girl asks the granny more quiestions about the mysterious friend...................................
    Scene 4
Scene set by the fireplace, the sister and the brother are playing and reading books, when suddenly a strong wind (sound) appears and both look at the door, the door opens and the big and strong genius appears...
    Scene 5
Scene set on a magic carpet (big one full of different and marvellous colors) The boy and the girl are sitting on the magic carpet and the genius and the granny are standing on it. The children do not speak and the genius talks about the surprising journey... seing the world from the sky.....
    Scene 6
Scene set as bird's eye view, all the characters are seeing the world from the sky, the nature: trees, flowers, rivers, mountains, people of different cultures, and villages. Nobody speaks.
    Scene 7
Scene set by the house again, the children and the granny are out of the magic carpet and the genius is on it, Nobody speaks except the genius who tells the children: _”ready for another trip?””To the beach?? (the end is open to enjoy other adventures)

    • Additional / relevant information
The most difficult aspect is how to create the world seeing from the sky. We are not able to create special effects in the school or the classroom, but, for example, we can use paper, draw and color rivers, trees, flowers, forest, indian people, black people..., villages on it, and as the children are sitting on the magic carpet (pretending to be flying), other students cross with this colored papers (background).
Taking care the nature, is the moral aspect I want to include in my script, children must know the power the human being has on it, and if we care the environment, the world could live more and more....

  1. I think this play will be great to be performed with primary students, because the vocabulary that they are going to use it is going to be a little bit complicated.
The pupils will learn a lot of things from performing this play, they are going to learn the vocabulary of the enviaroment presented, the magic world and the most important thing is that they are going to learn how to take care of their environment.
I would change or recomend to use a projector to have a wonderful background.
I think that the children can compare this play with Aladin.
